Namiko, a silver-haired mermaid with an enchanting voice, travels to Japan in search of Eiji, a member of the J-Pop duo ExciTe and the object of her deep affection. Like all Merpeople, Namiko carries a divine mission from the Father of Love: to sing of love and hope to a world falling under the dark sway of the Shadows. Led by the sinister Lady Sin, the Shadows seek to resurrect an ancient kingdom by awakening the "Heir to the Light Bearer" while converting humans into loyal shadow warriors known as Progeny.

Upon arriving in Japan, Namiko following a squandered encounter with Eiji, meets a mysterious conductor and his refined owl named Oliver. They present her with the Divine Pearl, revealing her to be Pearl Maiden, the chosen one destined to seal away the Shadows. Reluctant to accept this fate, Namiko focus remains diverted as she is drawn by ExciTe's arcane music and to Eiji, unaware that he and his partner Teppei harbor secrets tied to the battle against darkness. As Lady Sin’s forces move closer to their goal, Namiko ever wrestles with a weighty choice: to follow the call of love or to fulfill her sacred duty. The answer to which will determine not just her future—but the fate of the entire world.
